The polls are showing some very strong indications of where people think this whole issue should go.  We would like to put up a new poll.  THIS ONE WILL BE YOUR CHOICE.  For the next 4 days we are accepting your ideas for the next question - please just send us an email with your idea.  Every question will be considered for our next poll beginning Saturday, April 14th.

It is with great sadness that we relate the following story contributed by a visitor from Richmond, B.C., Canada:

She told us that her 2 1/2 year old purebred cat passed away on March 24th just after she had been given a clean bill of health by her vet on January 27th.  She phoned the FDA on March 25th to report the death and told us that she has emails from 5 other people who were feeding their cats exclusively on Hill's Prescription Diet Feline Z/D low allergen dry cat food - "all of them passed away very suddenly of renal failure and complications within the last 4 weeks."

She related that she had contacted Hill's Colgate 6 times and that this food is still on the shelves where she lives.  She further relates:

"She ate only perhaps one tin every three monthsor so of Science Diet Savory Cuts Beef.  My cat did eat half a tin of this in very late November.  We still have cans that we bought at that time and they are now part of the new recall as of two days ago.

Though Hill's/Colgate admitted they discussed the case in an upper management meeting on April 2nd, 2007, they still have not recalled the Z/D formula.  I am appalled.

Never again will I buy pet food products from Hill's/Colgate, P&G, Purina, Nestle, Delmonte, Menu Foods.  When we get our next kitten it will eventually be brought over to a raw diet, or a raw diet prepared that I can cook for my cat."

Unfortunately, this type of refrain has been heard only too often from thousands of pet owners from across North America.  It makes our resolve all that much harder to make certain that pet food regulation is put in place where absent, properly enforced where in place and that all food is tested regularly by an arms-length testing body non-aligned with the industry.

Remember, we really value your feedback and ideas so please contact us.
